PATE REUNION:  Jon, Mike & Jon (and we hope Ron) will be retaking a stage somewhere near Iowa State University on July 5th, 2013, just one short decade after their last reunion gig.  Clear your calendar for something transcendent, a train wreck, or both!  If you're on the Facebook, check in with the event page.

PATE frontman Jon Pratt, preparing for the reunion, gives "She's So Special" a bit of an Americana/Rockabilly vibe.

THE FLAMING LIPS advance stream The Terror.

IRON & WINE advance streams Ghost On Ghost.

THE SHOUTING MATCHES (ft Justin Vernon) advance streams Grownass Man.

SHUGGIE OTIS streams Inspiration Inspiration and Wings Of Love.

THE WHO: "Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere," live in '65.

THE ANDANTES finally get their due. The trio, almost always anonymously, sang on more songs than any other group at Motown. They were the female and vocal equivalent to the Funk Brothers, the label's house band that itself was largely anonymous in its time but gained acclaim through the 2002 documentary film, "Standing in the Shadows of Motown."

THE ROLLING STONES: Charlie Watts talks Glastonbury, Hyde Park, Altamont, Lady Gaga and more at The Guardian.

THE 10 BEST LOU REED SONGS, according to Stereogum.

THE  MOST EXCITING SUPERGROUPS, according to NME.

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE: Smart PR from Bruce Campbell helped the rebooted Evil Dead top the chart with 26 million --perhaps a bit less that ne reboots of Nightmare on Elm Street or Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but darn good for a franchise without an iconic villain.  The 17 million buget dwarfs the original's 400K, but this still ought toprovide a fine ROI for Campell, Raimi and Co.  The Croods and G.I. Joe: Retaliation are in an estimated tie for second at 21.1 million apiece, with the former crossing the 100 million mark in just 13 days, suggesting a finish near 200 million domestic (an amount it has aleady raked in overseas).  G.I. Joe continues the lag the original, but not by all that much.  Jurassic Park 3D takes the fourth slot with 18 million -- but that's pretty good for what is essentially a rerelease intended to boost interest in a fourth installment next year.  Olympus Has Fallen to round out the Top 5 with 10 million; its 70 million domestic total just about covers its budget now.  Below the fold, the latest Tyler Perry plummeted in its second weeken, per usual, while Oz the Great and Powerful gave a leggy showing and has racked up about a quarter-billion world wide.

JURASSIC PARK, btw, probably didn't need a 3-D conversion; it didn't benefit all that much from the tech.  But it was still nice to see it again on the big screen.

HALLE BERRY & OLIVIER MARTINEZ are expecting a baby.

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE & SELENA GOMEZ were SWATted.

JUSTIN BIEBER concerts cause Norwegian schools to reschedule exams.

DREW BARRYMORE thinks women can't have it all.

JURASSIC PARK A 20th Anniversary Oral History.

LEBANON: A senior Lebanese security official said the Al Nusrah Front has spread its influence in north Lebanon in recent months.

SYRIA: A Syrian airstrike killed at least 15 people near an opposition checkpoint in Aleppo.

EGYPT: Salafists attempted to storm the home of the Iranian charge d'affaires in Cairo.

IRAN: Not really serious about nuke negotiations. Shocka.

FERRETS + PACKING PEANUTS = Crazy Delicious.

CTHULHU & CTHYLLA live in the bellies of termites.

DOGS: The next beneficiaries of medical marijuana?

DOGS WEARING PANTYHOSE: What's the matter with China?
