WEEKEND BOX OFFICE: Taken 2 takes the top spot again with 22 million, albeit on a 55 percent drop tending to confirm a less leggy run than the original. That said, Liam Neeson has taken 86.8 million doomestic against a 45 million budget already. Argo places with a 20.1 million debut, actually gaining steam over the weekend on good word of mouth.  Sinsiter shows with 18.3 million against a frugal 3 million budget (the Paranormal Activity producers return to formula). Hotel Transylvania takes the fourth slot with 17.3 million braking the 100 million mark against an 85 million budget.  Here Comes The Boom rounds out the Top 5 with a 12 million debut, which some may consider disappointing from Kevin James led, Adam Sandler produced comedy.  Beow the fold, Seven Psychopaths opened in ninth with a disappointing 4.3 million against a 15 million budget.

ARGO: The bizarre-bit-true story of the CIA/Candaian rescue of six escapees from the US embassy during the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis disguised as a film crew may be only slightly less odd than the story of Ben Affleck cementing himself as one of Hollywood's most solid directors.  Granted, Affleck surrounds himself in the lead with a talented cast, though no one with the box office draws of The Town.  The first half has great fun taking the occasional jab at Hollywood itself, with help from John Goodman and Alan Arkin, while the second effectively turns up the suspense (particularly in light of the known outcome). A thoroughly entertaining film only slightly marred by its treatment of pre-Revolutionary Iran in the introduction; its depiction of Mossadegh is politically correct to a degree strange in a movie where the CIA are ostensibly to be preferred over Iranian Islamic zealots.

SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS: Given this title, and this cast, you would something quite wacky and violent. It certainly is both of those things, but also about much more than that. Colin Farrell -- the closest thing to the straight man here -- plays a screwwnwriter with a block and a drinking problem.  He's friends with Sam Rockwell's character, ostensibly an actor but more of a dognapper in a scheme with Christopher Walken.  These two run afoul of a gangster played by Woody Harrelson. What ensues ends up being a bit more about Farrell than you might expect.  Rockwell continues to be one of the more unsung talets in film today, while Walken turns in what may be his best turn since Catch Me If You Can.
