MARK E. SMITH, lead singer and main force behind prolific post-punk band The Fall, has died, according to a statement from the band. He was 60, and kept swinging to the end. Here's his final interview.  The NYT obit is really 12 essential tracks.  In 2015, Stereogum ranked The Fall's already voluminous catalog. That same year, the BBC charted all of Smith's multitudinous bandmates (The Guardian tried to track them all down in 2005, but there have been many since).  Here are some of the many tributes from other musicians.  And here he is sportscasting.
