THE TEMPTATIONS: "Psychedelic Shack." That's where it's at.

NEW RELEASES: Paste can point you to Brittany Howard, Hiss Golden Messenger, Liam Gallagher, Vivian Girls and More.

THE NUMBER ONES looks at Rod Stewart's horny smash, "Tonight's The Night (Gonna Be Alright)." And some bonus Number Twos you don't want to miss.

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE: Downton Abbey tops the chart with 30MM against a reported budget of 13-20MM. And it's made almost that much outside North America. My guess would be this was a very front-loaded movie for fans of the show, so good thing they had a big debut.  Ad Astra places with 19.2MM, while Rambo: Last Blood shows with 19MM -- close enough that this could flip when moving from estimates to actuals. Ad Astra's budget was reportedly anywhere from 80-100MM, so it has some work to do if it wants to replicate the success of Gravity or Interstellar.  The Rambo flick was budgeted at only 50MM and the return is probably disappointing even at that, echoing the flop of Rocky Balboa before Stallone retooled for CreedIt: Chapter Two takes the fourth slot with 17.2MM, badly trailing its predecessor (which in fairness made a surprising mountain of cash).  Hustlers rounds out the Top Five with 17MM on a 49 percent drop, still a big win for the studio.

THE EMMYS went to these people. Congrats. As someone who liked Fleabag, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Game of Thrones, and Chernobyl, I can't complain much.

STEPHEN ROOT finally got an Emmy nomination, and a New York Times profile.

MILEY CYRUS broke up with Kaitlynn Carter. This is my shocked face.

LINDSAY LOHAN was dumped, reportedly by the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammad bin Salman.

THE WEEKEND STARTS HERE:

... with THE BYRDS! To everything there is a season, and when the leaves start turning, my thoughts turn to this rare live threefer of "Turn! Turn! Turn!", "Bells of Rhymney" and "Mr. Tambourine Man", introduced by... David McCallum? There are more screaming girls, plus go-go dancers when they hit Shivaree for "All I Really Want to Do" and "Feel A Whole Lot Better."  There are even more dancers when they cover "Not Fade Away" for Shindig! on June 23, 1965, while I'm pretty sure that's Ed Wynn introducing "Chimes of Freedom."

THE HOLD STEADY visits WFUV's Studio A.

SHEER MAG visits KEXP.

THE CHROMATICS share "I Can Never Be Myself When You're Around."

BOB DYLAN's next  Bootleg Series will devote a disc and a half to the his famous 1969 session with Johnny Cash. But the promo tracks are “I Pity the Poor Immigrant (Take 4)” and “Tell Me That It Isn't True (Take 2).”

JEFF TWEEDY talks to Stereogum about his friendship with Nick Offerman, Chipotle employees thinking he wrote "I Gotta Feeling," producing, being a TV weather reporter, and more.

THE ZOMBIES: The Aquarium Drunkard Interview. Or is it interviews?

THE NUMBER ONES looks at the Steve Miller Band's charmingly halfassed road-trip jam, "Rock'n Me."

NOW SHOWING: This weekend's wide releases include Rambo: Last Blood, which is currently scoring 36 percent on the ol' Tomatometer; Ad Astra, which is currently scoring 80 percent; and Downton Abbey, scoring 85 percent.

THE SONS OF JOHN RAMBO: Stallone created a genre of movies that grappled with post-Vietnam America by returning to the scene, revising history, and blowing up stuff.
