WEEKEND BOX OFFICE: The Fate of the Furious threepeated atop the chart with another 19.4MM on a 50 percent drop and breaking the billion-dollah mark worldwide. But it's already getting competition from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 in some foreign markets and this weekend should put the spaceships ahead of the cars. How To Be A Latin Lover placed well above expectations with 12MM; it will be interesting to see whather this plays as counter-programming to GotG2, or gets squeezed simply by the sheer number of screens Star-Lord & Co. will occupy. Even more surprising is the Indian Baahubali 2: The Conclusion showing with 10.1 million on just 445 screens; the original, however, wasn't leggy and I would expect the same here. The debut of The Circle took the fourth slot with 9.3MM -- despite Emma Watson and Tom hanks, this one got terrible reviews and Cinemascores (a D-), so the only silver lining here is the 18MM budget. THE FYRE FESTIVAL promised luxury on an uninhabited island in the Bahamas, but delivered what looks like a refugee camp. According to sources, organizers, including Ja Rule and Billy McFarland, warned A-listers who had promoted the event not to come and took off when things went south. ROSEANNE is making a comeback. I should have more Things for Tuesday. See you then!
