THE WEEKEND STARTS HERE:

... with THE BYRDS! To everything there is a season, and when the leaves start turning, my thoughts turn to this rare live threefer of "Turn! Turn! Turn!", "Bells of Rhymney" and "Mr. Tambourine Man", introduced by... David McCallum? There are more screaming girls, plus go-go dancers when they hit Shivaree for "All I Really Want to Do" and "Feel A Whole Lot Better."  There are even more dancers when they cover "Not Fade Away" for Shindig! on June 23, 1965, while I'm pretty sure that's Ed Wynn introducing "Chimes of Freedom."

LORETTA LYNN advance streams Wouldn't It Be Great.

RESTORATIONS advance streams LP5000.

TIM HECKER advance streams Konoyo.

TOM PETTY: Hear the previously unreleased song "Gainesville."

R.E.M. shares a live BBC take on "Orange Crush."

RICHARD SWIFT: Hear the posthumous "Sept20."

WIILIAM SHATNER & HENRY ROLLINS sing "Jingle Bells." Really.

COUSTEAU: "The Last Good Day of the Year." Or close to it.

BOB DYLAN: More blood, more tracks.

TICKETMASTER denies reports it partners with scalpers and  double-dips on resale ticket fees.

ARON HODEK is a pretty ace bassist for a 7-year-old.

THE NUMBER ONES looks at the Four Tops' astonishing soul classic "Reach Out I'll Be There."

NOW SHOWING: This weekend's wide releases include The House With A Clock In Its Walls, which is currently scoring 58 percent on the ol' Tomatometer; Life Itself, which is scoring 11 percent; Fahrenheit 11/9, scoring 92 percent; and Assassination Nation, scoring 67 percent.

MICHAEL B. JORDAN is set to play Tom Clancy hero John Clark in a new film series.

JORDAN PEELE will be hosting The Twilight Zone on CBS's streaming service.

VERONICA MARS has officially been picked up at Hulu.

DISNEY CEO BOB IGER opens up about his plan for a Netflix rival, ESPN's politics problem and how MeToo has changed his company.

JAMES BOND 25 is now set to be directed by True Detective's Cary Fukunaga.

IT'S ABOUT THE RELATIONSHIP, not the animal you own.

TERRY is a catnapper, meaning he naps with cats with disabilities.

RACCOONS bust into a Toronto woman's home and stare her down while defiantly eating her bread.

GIANT PANDAS have a vocal repertoire that comprises more than a dozen distinct grunts, barks and squeaks, most of which amount to some version of "leave me alone."

WHAT ECSTACY DOES TO... OCTOPUSES.
