JOE ELY, the singer-songwriter who helped drive a new wave of Texas-based music that united rock and country fans in the 1980s and beyond, died Monday at age 78.
ROB REINER, who segued from starring in “All in the Family” to directing movies including “This Is Spinal Tap,” “A Few Good Men” and “When Harry Met Sally…” was found stabbed to death Sunday afternoon in his Brentwood home alongside his wife Michele Singer. He was 78. The LAPD said in a statement that “Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of Robert and Michele Reiner, was responsible for their deaths.” Reportedly, they had a heated argument at Conan O'Brien's Christmas party just hours earlier.
