WEEKEND BOX OFFICE: In a shocker, the top movie during Oscar weekend is Gnomeo and Juliet, in its 3rd weekend of release, with 14.2 million. Enjoy it, gnomes… there's a new sheriff in town next weekend when Rango hits the cineplex. Hall Pass debuted at No. 2 with 13.4 million, well below the 20 million predicted by the so-called gurus. Unknown slips 43 percent to third, with 12.4 million. That drop is larger than Taken's 17 percent second weekend drop, but not bad for an action movie in a post-holiday weekend… and its 42 million total against a 30 million budget alredy looks good. Just Go With It holds the fourth slot on a not-bad 40 percent drop suggesting it benefited from the weak showing by Hall Pass. I Am Number Four rounds out the Top Five, but may have trouble recouping its 60 million budget. Below the fold, Bieber made more money releasing a "director's cut" of the movie after 14 days in theaters. The King's Speech held the seventh slot, but increased its percentage on pre-Oscar traffic. Drive Angry opened in ninth with 5.1 million, way below the mid-teens gurus predicted, raising big questions about Nic Cage's career.
CHARLIE SHEEN called the decision to suspend Two and Half Men "crazy" and boldly declared he is switching channels to HBO. That's not happening. His friends said Sheen would never return to the show, but Sheen told GMA he's showing up despite the halt in production. Sheen also denied his comments about show creator Chuck Lorre were anti-Semitic and made yet another demented phone call to a radio show, declaring "it's about to get really gnarly!" And the chest tattoo and the ABC interview teaser suggest he plans to make good on the gnarliness. Sheen is on GMA and the Today show this morning, where he will likely be at least as he is nutty in this video interview with RadarOnline.

LIBYA: The UN Security Council imposed travel sanctions on Libya's top leaders. On Friday afternoon, 40 rebels brandishing 2ft swords and scimitars spearheaded a group of 1000 men who clashed with army troops in Sabratha, a coastal town 40 miles west of Tripoli. Army leaders in eastern Libya who have turned against Gaddafi's regime are preparing to dispatch a rebel force to Tripoli to support the beleaguered uprising there.
