WEEKEND BOX OFFICE: The Invisible Man tops the chart with a 29MM debut against a 7MM budget, in true Blumhouse style, though I think this one has appeal beyond the median horror fan. Sonic the Hedghog places16MM on a 39 percent drop with a 128MM domestic total that's almost a record for a videogame movie (currently held by Detective Pikachu's 144MM). The Call of the Wild shows with 13.2MM on a 47 percent drop and a 45.9MM domestic total that's waaaaay short of its reported 125-150MM budget. My Hero Academia: Heroes: Rising, an anime pic, takes the fourth slot by surprise with 5.1MM. Bad Boys for Life rounds out the Top Five with another 4.3MM. STEVEN SPIELBERG's daughter Mikaela has been arrested in Nashville, Tennessee, for domestic violence. DANIEL RADCLIFFE continues to move far away from Hogwarts with “Escape From Pretoria,” a riveting, true-life prison drama. GWYNETH PALTROW's least favorite role. THE AMAZING RACE shuts down production over coronavirus concerns. THE DARK UNIVERSE: A Eulogy. FREEMAN DYSON, a mathematical prodigy who left his mark on subatomic physics before turning to messier subjects like Earth’s environmental future and the morality of war, died on Friday at a hospital near Princeton, N.J. He was 96. TWO DOGS, A CAT and a baby sister. A 36-POUND CAT meets his match. A DOG surprised by giant tennis balls. THAI MONKEYS have jobs picking coconuts... for now.
