HAROLD RAMIS, a member of Second City, SCTV, and one of Hollywood’s most successful comedy filmmakers (National Lampoon's Animal House, Caddyshack, Stripes, Ghostbusters, National Lampoon's Vacation, Groundhog Day and Analyze This, to name a few), died Monday from complications of autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis, a rare disease that involves swelling of the blood vessels. He was 69.  In 2004, Tad Friend made the case that Ramis is the father of the modern comedy. He also may have motivated John Hughes (who, like Ramis, ultimately returned to Chicagoland) to become a director.
